The loudspeaker of my VS68 failed to produce any sound during a practice in the mountains, although the functional check at the trailhead was OK .
This problem may be caused by a defective pressure equalization system. All VS68 devices are water- and air-proof. If you start climbing e.g. at an altitude of 500 meters, the air pressure outside your Barryvox will decrease, while it will remain constant inside the device. At 4'500 meters, the pressure is about half of the pressure at 500 meters. Every VS 68 has a built-in pressure equalization system. This system keeps the pressure inside the device from pressing on the loudspeaker membrane and thus blocking it. On older devices, it may happen that the loudspeaker fails to operate above a certain altitude (usually about 2'000 to 2'500 meters above sea level). Since this is a safety related issue, you should send the device to a service center for checking and possible repair.
Does my Barryvox VS 68 operate properly with used batteries ?
If the battery status indication shows that the batteries are still usable, your Barryvox will operate properly. But please note that the transmitter signal strength decreases when the battery voltage decreases. This implies a reduced transmitter range. If the battery status indication suggests a battery change, the batteries are good for at least 24 hours of transmission and 1 hour of search, but the transmitter range is about 10% less than with new batteries. Therefore, we recommend that you do not wait until the battery indicator stops blinking in the TEST mode before inserting new batteries.
My Barryvox fell from about 2 meters onto a concrete floor. It seems to operate properly. Does it still need a checkup ?
For reasons of safety, the device should be checked for possible damage by a service center.
